Current status of project
What are some of the barriers that apprentices may face? This is the very question that the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum/Forum canadien sur l’apprentissage (CAF-FCA) sought to answer.
Purpose of the report
The ‘Accessing and Completing Apprenticeship Training in Canada’ report (January 2004 - see below for your free download):
- Focuses on some of the perceived barriers that apprentices may face when accessing and completing apprenticeship training in Canada;
- Looks at some recommendations and next steps for overcoming some of the common barriers;
- Is for anyone who is currently involved with an apprentice or an apprenticeship program; or anyone who is considering participating in, setting up or managing an apprenticeship program.
Objectives of the Report
The overall objectives of the report were to:
- Identify and explore the perspective of individuals, unions, employers, governments and educations concerning barriers to accessing, maintaining and completing apprenticeships;
- Determine which barriers are systemic and which may be specific to certain groups;
- Bring together and consult with the apprenticeship community to discuss the findings and examine recommendations.
Please note: The findings identified within the consultation report do not reflect the views and opinions of the CAF-FCA; rather they reflect the perceptions of barriers that the research captures. They are presented to engage the apprenticeship community into thinking about some of the perceived issues.
