The CAF-FCA, in partnership with the College of the North Atlantic and the Newfoundland and Labrador Apprenticeship and Certification Board, today held a luncheon with key apprenticeship stakeholders to officially launch the conference planning activities. "The objective of today's event is to bring together key apprenticeship stakeholders in order to announce the CAF-FCA 2010 Conference - Apprenticeship: The Framework for Canada's Renewable Resource. Ensuring strong relationships between local apprenticeship Champions will enhance every opportunity for success of the 2010 Conference," says Cindy Oliver, CAF-FCA Conference Co-Chair. "The 2010 conference will build on the success of many of our previous National Conferences that have been held every two years since 2002. This marks the first time it will be held in beautiful Newfoundland and Labrador and you will be pleased to know that we anticipate between 400 and 500 apprenticeship stakeholders from all across Canada to attend," says Rex Cotter, Chair of the Newfoundland and Labrador Apprenticeship Board and CAF-FCA Director. "To generate momentum and interest locally in the 2010 CAF-FCA Conference, the College of the North Atlantic was pleased to host today's event. We are excited about the opportunity to raise the profile of colleges, apprentices, and the importance that apprenticeship training brings to all sectors of the economy," says Robin Walters, Campus Administrator. Mary Lawson, CAF-FCA Conference Co-Chair makes the connection between the economy and the need for apprenticeship training. "In the current economic climate, business leaders are concerned with many factors including sustainability, productivity, profitability and retention. The 2010 Conference will form a building block that will see apprenticeship stakeholders from across the country participating in educational and networking opportunities." The goal of the Conference is to raise the profile and importance of apprenticeship training and to celebrate that it is working for Canada!
