Transitioning to Apprenticeship for Youth

”Transitioning to Apprenticeship for Youth”, a dialogue hosted by CAF-FCA on October 21, 2010, opened with panel presentations from two youth, an employer and two service providers. Guests representing various stakeholders from across Canada, including school boards, provincial and federal government departments, unions, industry associations and other organizations, joined the CAF-FCA Board of Directors to discuss some of the best and most promising practices for transitioning youth to the labour market. Joel Michaud is a 22-year-old certified carpenter from Calgary, Alberta. Click the video above to learn about Joel’s experiences in the Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) and the progress he has made at Labbe Leech Interiors Ltd. as he transitions into a supervisory role.
