In this session employers and industry
representatives discussed their commitment to apprenticeship and provided perspectives as
to why investing in apprenticeship is important. They discussed the value and benefits of
apprenticeship along with the challenges they face.

Workshop 302 – The Impact of Trades Being
Compulsory or Voluntary
This session explored perspectives and approaches
in the determination of compulsory or voluntary trades and examined the impact these
decisions have on apprenticeship. The presenters shared considerations that come into
play in the decision-making process.
