Terms and conditions for submissions
- The CAF-FCA Conference Committee will make decisions on each submission on a case by
case basis. However, the Committee may favour presentations that are related to the
theme: “Apprenticeship – The Framework for Canada’s Renewable Resource”, or related to
key suggested topics identified on the Call for Presentation application form.
- The CAF-FCA Conference Committee reserves the right to make final selections and edit
abstracts.
- Each presenter must register and pay to attend the CAF-FCA 2010 Apprenticeship
Conference in St. John’s, NL. The 2010 conference registration fee will be $600 + GST
(Early Bird rate) and $650 + GST (Regular rate).
Please Note: If you are planning on attending the conference only for your presentation,
the registration fee will be waived.
- Proposals must be submitted online and received no later than by 2:00 p.m. (14:00) EDT,
Friday, September 18, 2009. Only online submissions will be accepted for evaluation.
An automatic confirmation of receipt of submission will be sent.
- By submitting a presentation proposal, it is understood that the presenter agrees to be part
of an evaluation process that encourages conference participants to evaluate each session
they attend.
- By submitting an abstract for consideration, it is understood that you are committed to be
present and to participate as proposed, if accepted. Please note: All expenses incurred to
attend; i.e. registration fees, travel, hotel accommodation will be the presenter’s
responsibility.
- Submissions will be considered for presentations that fit within the following presentation
formats:
- a sixty (60) minute single presentation time slot , with a maximum of two (2) presenters, or
- a ninety (90) minute interactive workshop format, with a maximum of two (2) presenters,
or
- as part of a ninety (90) minute panel format wherein each presentation/panelist will be
allotted a maximum of twenty (20) minutes each, allowing time for panel discussion with
the audience. There will be a maximum of 3 panelists in this type of session. The
conference committee may favour a partnership submission from multiple organizations.
The intent being to ensure the panellists participating present a variety of perspectives to
engage the audience in dialogue and discussion. (Note: The CAF-FCA reserves the
right to put the panels together.)

- as part of a cracker barrel session:
- a cracker barrel session is defined as:
- multiple table topics presented all in the same room.
- The presenter sits at a table and has twenty (20) minutes to present to
the group around the table.
- The tables will be set for a maximum of ten people, one seat will be
reserved for the presenter and nine people can sit with the presenter for
these quick presentations.
- There will be 4 sets of 20 minute presentations.
- After each twenty minute segment, the participants will be asked to move
to another table.
- The presenters stay at the same table and present to the next round of
participants.
- This format does not permit the use of any audio-visual equipment,
computer presentations or projections.
- By completing and submitting the Call for Presentations Application Form, you give consent
to the CAF-FCA to collect your personal information in order to process your form, to
maintain contact with you and to send you information related to CAF-FCA projects and
activities. This consent may also include the sharing of such information with a third party for
the purposes of managing certain aspects of the Call for Presentations activity.
- All presenters must be identified at the time of submission of the application. All
communication will be sent to the submitting presenter / author only.
- Additional information on presentation logistics and consultation details will be forwarded to
all successful applicants.
- The CAF-FCA Conference Committee reserves the right to make any required changes to
the submissions, in the final publication.
