• Performance Driven: Labour Market Opportunities and Challenges for Canada's Motive Power Repair and Service Sector
  The motive power repair and service (MPRS) sector experienced growth from 2005 in the percentage of locations with 10 or more bays and a corresponding decline in the proportion of smaller locations. Currently, there are 66,263 establishments in the MPRS sector which employ an estimated 306,165 employees. Over half of sector business locations (57%) operated at full capacity during all 12 months in 2008.

• In general, completers are more likely to earn more, work more, and have higher rates of satisfaction with factors such as pay, responsibilities, job security, health and safety, and work relations.
• When we look at Canadian data specifically from Stats Can we see there are positive results for those who complete their apprenticeship training.  Completers are more likely to:
• be employed and in the labour force.
• have permanent jobs.
• earn more.
• have their certificate of qualification.  Almost 90% of completers have their certificate of qualification.
• have their Red Seal designation.
