Laddering Programs that Connect Racialized Workers and Employers

Currently in Canada, racialized workers continue to experience significant barriers to accessing apprenticeship. This can be due to the difficulties in having their credentials or experience recognized, language barriers, essential skills issues, or lack of awareness of resources connecting them with potential employers. Programs already exist in Canada to assist racialized workers with finding employment opportunities in the trades through apprenticeship. This project will identify those programs and collect promising practices based on interviews with the organizations that run them. This information will be useful to employers in the skilled trades looking for information on what programs and practices can help them best connect and integrate racialized workers into their human resources practices. This project will also provide the opportunity to share CAF-FCA’s resources on apprenticeship with agencies that may not be familiar with our work.

If you have information you would like to share in relation to this project please contact Emily Arrowsmith.
